India registered slightly more than 100,000 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, the lowest numbers logged in more than two months.
On Sunday, the country recorded 101,237 new infections and 2,446 new fatalities, with the total case tally now standing at 28.9 million while the deaths increased to 349,247, reported HT’s COVID-19 dashboard. The daily fresh cases reported on Sunday were the lowest since April 4, in a span of 62 days. The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has witnessed a steady decline for four weeks in a row across the country. The seven-day average of fresh cases reached a peak of 391,819 cases a day on May 9, and dipped to 123,232 cases a day in the past week, translating to a fall of more than 68% from the peak, as per HT’s COVID-19 dashboard… (HT, June 7, 2021)
